Subject: notes about MIMO link tuning - what to check and ensure

Hello, here are few comments to help fine tuning your MIMO links using
COMPEX MMJ, MMS devices.

Please note that todays MMJ (MMJ = Mimo JUNIOR - wpp543) integrated
antenna can only support 5.475GHz to 5.875GHz. Other frequencies if you
used, might not get the best throughput available for you. If you are
using 5.8GHz, which is OK. We are preparing new model of MMj antenna
with 17dBi gaing un wider frequency range.

Lets strat :

Upgrade to V2.09 RC5 B100401 for both AP and Station. Next step, make
sure that long distance parameters are enabled (from Advance Wireless).
In the Advanced Wireless page, can you please check you are seeing 2x2
Antenna configuration? Also, please check the Auto ACK Timeout. Also, in
the basic wireless page, please use 20/40MHz configuration. After you
have done all this, run the throughput when they linked up. See the
throughput values. Is it to your satisfaction?

If not, now please go on to the "Status" tab.

1. What is the RSSI value? Is it between 30-40? Press on Align and see
if you can get it better by turning the antenna a bit. Is there a BIG
difference between left and right signal? Can you align till they are
mostly the same?

2. What is the Transmit CCQ? Is it between 70 and 100%? If not, the
environment might not be clear.

3. What is the Channel bandwidth? Is it HT40+ or HT40-? If not, can you
please reboot the AP or the station? It might have cached in the old
status and you would need to wait longer for it to resolve this.

4. What is the ACK timeout value? Is it within what you normally get?

Let me know if this improves the throughput values. Let me see some
screenshots of the Status page of both AP and Station, if you still
require help.

That really all depends on the RSSI that you are getting. RSSI takes
into account noise. Your noise and our noise is different.

For our own 3.2km test, if your RSSI is around 30 to 40, getting 80 to
90Mbps of throughput is not an issue. This could be gotten by 26dBm
cards, or 23dBm cards, MME 5G16dBi antennas. If you are using MMJ
antennas, with 20dBm 11nx cards, then your RSSI should be around 20-25.
You would get around 70 to 80Mbps of throughput.

Do you have Chariot? Or JPerf? Use multiple streams(4 streams one way, 8
streams both ways) with Chariot and JPerf, bidirectional (both ways) and
you should be getting the throughput. The cards used for the 3.2km link
is WLM200N5-26 with WPJ543, MME antennas. The difference with the 5km
link, is that there we use a 23dBi MTI dual polarized antennas.

Best regards
Pavel
