We have done further tests with WP543 and some tests results to share with you.
11n depends on packets reflection to achieve higher performance.
Thus for indoor like in a big hall where all the APs and clents are not obstructed by any wall
between them it will achieve the best performance.
When APs and clients are behind walls the effect of reflected packets will drop so do performance.
But it should still performance better than 11a/b/g
Indoor tests
=========
WP543 with WLM200NX or WLM200N5 (using 5GHz ) have the following performance.
One WP543 is setup as AP and one as Transparent Client. They are 5meters from each other.
They are connected using channel 149 with HT40 (40MHz bandwidth).
A PC is connected to AP and TC each.
Using Chariot test,
(a) Transmit single direction AP to TC or TC to AP each can achieve 93Mbps performance.
This is the max of the 100Mbps ethernet port speed.
(b) Transmit two directions sumultaneously between AP and TC. I get 135Mbps real throughput.
It may go even higher to 150Mbps if AP and TC are placed and tune more precisely and run in ideal places.
However, this test result should be a good guide of the performance to expect.
Out door tests
===========
We can't do any outdoor test currently.
However, lab tests should give a close result of the expected performance.
Reason been as explained above. One key improvement of 11n performance is its dependent of reflected
packets from wall in indoor to gain performance. Outdoor reflected packets is very low and will not contribute much
to its performance. So it depends more on its transmit / receive streams function for the performance.
WLN200Nx support 2x2 MIMO. It supports 2 transmits and 2 receive streams.
Thus for single direction with 2 antenna transmitting the expected max performance is about 85Mbps.
Two directions simultaneoue transmit and receive the expected full duplex performance close to 100Mbps.
So performance of 11n is more than 2x of 11a (assuming in super + turbo mode its max is 40Mbps).
Thus WP543 should give more than 2x the performance over WP54 over the same distant.
For point to point connection best performance and longer distant can be achieve using directional antenna.
I hope this helps to give you a better picture of how the new low cost 11n product to achieve higher performance ( 2x )
where 11a/b/g can't achieve yet do not need to pay for a much more expensive 11n product from other supplier.
I think you should get a few units to do some tests so you can plan ahead to sell to the solution to your customers.
